Being Human: Transcendence or Psychosis

Being Human, what does it mean in the context of Self-realization? Is there a shared consensus? The process is to go beyond — to transcend the boundaries of human consciousness — to realize the essence of who we are beyond our most dearly held notions. The dynamics of that process are, in turn, colored by our psychophysiological conditioning. When seen from that perspective, the ancient line, “Know thyself”, gains an extra dimension. The knowledge of the Self is inseparable from the instrumentality of knowing – the body. The attitude towards that notion marks a point of departure in many spiritual traditions whose teachings are united by the same goal. Though many are going through various stages of awakening and expansion of Consciousness, there is still a vague understanding of the phenomenon. For some, the process culminated in the crowning experience of Unity, for others the journey continues. This presentation is an invitation to re-examine the notion of Self-realization in relation to our humanness — to review how our physiology acts as a reflection of a greater reality — ultimately leading to what could be termed as Greater Embodiment, a spontaneous flowing of Awareness awake to Itself.
